I am Aimée

I’ve always felt like an outsider. As a girl with a multicultural background, I often feel like I don’t fully belong in either of my cultures. Growing up, I was exposed to a variety of traditions, foods, and languages, but I never felt like I fit in with any particular group. At school, I was the only one who brought ethnic food for lunch, and my classmates would often make fun of me for it.

They didn’t understand the significance of the food and the memories it held for me. I felt like I had to hide my culture and pretend to be someone I wasn’t just to fit in. It wasn’t easy, but I knew it was important to embrace my heritage and be proud of who I am. Now, as I continue on my journey of self-discovery, I’ve learned to embrace my multicultural background and all the different parts of myself. I’ve realized that being different is a strength, not a weakness. I no longer feel like I have to hide my culture or pretend to be someone I’m not.

I am who I am, and that’s something to be proud of!
